Our Story

Your hosts, Bart and Debbi Gallant have resided in Lacombe for 24 years.  Bart is an Oilfield Operations Manager and Debbi left a Counselling career to pursue the dream of owning a Bed and Breakfast however continues to work in the criminal justice field.

After a few years of searching for just the right property, the location that 50th Avenue House Bed and Breakfast currently sits came available to purchase.  Though the original house on the  property was over 100 years old it was unable to be restored due to extensive disrepair.  Circa 1901, the original home shown below offered some heritage defining elements such as the original staircase and claw foot tub, which were able to be preserved and donated to other existing heritage type homes in the city of Lacombe.

During the removal of some of the baseboards in the house, an old photo was found dating back to the late 1800’s and it is assumed that it is the family of the original owners, the Gilmours from southern Ontario.  Construction on the new Victorian style 2 storey home commenced in July 2013 and was completed approximately 6 months later.

50th Avenue House Bed and Breakfast opened its doors in June 2014.
